Love this in the cobalt but be careful about the glazing, March 29, 2009

I've come to be a huge fan of patent leather purses. I don't have to worry about them getting ruined if it's raining or snowing. The leather is easier to clean and it seems to repel dirt. I thought I was buying the Vixen in patent leather but it was actually pearlized glazed lamb leather and is FAR MORE delicate than patent leather.
When Botkier introduced the Spring 2009 Vixen hobo, I was fixated on the Cobalt Blue color. I was not disappointed. The purse is roomy but not structured so that it doesn't look huge if it's not full. Unlike other unstructured purses, this is cut in a way where it doesn't always look like everything in the bag has sunk to the bottom.
I was surprised at how lightweight this bag is. Even full, it is comfortable to carry. The patent leather on the cobalt is a deep blue and has a bit of a pearlized metallic sheen to it. The leather is thin so it's light. It's not squishy but it is smooth and soft. The sheen on the blue is amazing. Silver hardware complements the bag.
There is a zippered pocket on the outside. Within that pocket are two slip pockets. Inside the main purse are also two slip pockets, one zippered pocket and one very cool chain to clip keys on. Plenty of organization space and the front pocket is easily accessable for shopping and grabbing things that I need on a regular basis.
The purse does come with an botkier elephant keychain and tassle. The elephant is usually in the same leather as the bag. I personally feel it's a bit over the top with the keychain so I don't wear the bag with it on. However, it is cute and adds a bit of fun to the bag. There are also decorative braided cords on either side. Again, too over the top for me and they seemed to look shabby after a couple of weeks. I removed these with no issues to the bag. It was simply removing one long cord from each side of the bag. Putting them back on may be another story. However, I wanted to point out that the purse can work for those with a more conservative look.
This is a great purse for mom's on the go. I am able to carry all of my children's necessities as well as my own. Fun and utilitarian, I highly recommend this bag.
UPDATE: Be very careful about the coating on this bag. Gooey, sticky spots means the coating is peeling. The entire coating will peel off like a snake skin. I highly recommend contacting the company or specialist if you have a problem and avoid treating the problem with leather cleaner, conditioner or anything else.
