I was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and one of the symptoms of my high blood sugar is an almost endless thirst. I got tired of refilling my glass every 10 minutes or so, and bringing the pitcher to where I was didn't work either as the contents soon became warm. So I decided to get the biggest doggone beverage holder I could fine...enter the Bubba Keg.
I can fill my keg up to the brim, stick a straw in it, and have something cool to drink all day. No more running to the fridge every few minutes...one keg a day is my usual. On rough days I drink two of these. It has great insulation and keeps my drink cold for hours.
As for the lid, I haven't had any problems with leaks around the seal, but I have noticed that if I hold the keg upside down or on its side (done after I read about the leaks other had experienced), it will leak from the hinge/stopper on top. For me, this isn't a problem as I use it around the house. The one thing I DO have trouble with (lid-wise) is that sometimes it's hard to twist open again. I don't twist it hard when I close it, but even so, it can take a bit of arm work and wrestling to get the thing off. Now I just barely twist it close, which seems to do the trick.
I've been using it every single day since I bought it, and it's holding up just fine. If it does wear out, I have no doubt that I'll be buying another one.
