Mr. M. Randle Trundle, the CEO of a major New York conglomerate, is beyond outraged. Somebody messed with his minor league baseball team—The Bayport Schooners—and he is taking it personally. He hires Harry Mickey Shorts, an unconventional, street-wise private investigator, to find out what caused the suspicious collapse of his team during its initial season. Added to the team as a player-coach, Harry gets a second chance to go back and do what has always been his first love, play baseball, while he helps Trundle solve his problem. Complicating the issue, Harry is simultaneously dealing with the trials of rebuilding a life with his ex-wife and two kids.

An enjoyable read,

As a first novel, I thought da bushes was very polished leaving no loose ends. The author's relaxed style of writing is compelling and smooth. There are short chapters with an even pace. Each scene flows effortlessly into the next. The main character, Harry, is well-developed with smart dialogue fitting a New York private investigator. There are just enough characters and suspects to keep the reader interested. It was a quick read that I enjoyed. I'm looking forward to the next adventure!

I loved Harry Shorts! This is one of those books that you just can't put down. A wonderful mix of suspense, mystery, humor and a "gotcha" twist at the end. Harry's little liaison's added a little spice as well!
