Putting business back into focus,
By A Customer
This review is from: E-business (R)evolution, The (Paperback)
While most books on Internet and Business drive either into Internet technologies or Business plans, this book is able to do the crossover between Technology and Business, placing Business drivers in the foreground, just as we see it happening right now on the Internet. While technology dominated the last few years, it is now the companies with the right business plan and the right technologies how are making the most profit. While explaining all relevant Internet technologies in-depth the book never forgets the reason for the technologie by going into detail on the business value of each technology and by presenting business plans where technologies might fit or not. Especially Chapter 3 with its complete overview is excellent. Chapter 5 is an outstanding compedium for every online marketeer and Chapter 16 brings the reader into a whole new world of ideas.

A Wealth of Best Practices,
By
This review is from: E-business (R)evolution, The (Paperback)
Daniel Amor's book cuts through the swamp of proprietary jargon that has emerged from the consultants and vendors of Internet based solutions and services.A concise Introduction is followed by his reduction of e-jargon of to the basic principles of e-Commerce and e-Business and then progressively explains the potential applications, preparation, pitfalls and benefits of applying Internet enablement to the business operations of the enterprise. The route of Internet enablement can be a minefield of hazards, while the choice of supporting technologies and service options is continually widening. Amor stresses that a clear strategy and goals for the e-Business programme are essential if the investment and effort is to enable the enterprise to move into the new paradigm of pervasive e-Business The logical structure, comprehensive content and wealth of best practices included in Amor's book has helped formalise our thinking and plans on the definition and application of e-Business strategy and solutions across our business, products and services. The book continues to be a valuable source of reference on e-Business issues within our Company. A minor criticism is the irritating grammatical and spelling errors which should have been eliminated by effective proof reading, hence I give it four stars not five.

Internet Handbook for Business and Technology People,
By Gülay Kilic (Germany) - See all my reviews
This review is from: E-business (R)evolution, The (Paperback)
The book of Daniel Amor is one of the best books on e-business, e-commerce, e-services and all other e-s on the market. It is not only very complete, but information is presented in a very structured way, making it easy to read through the book very fast and efficiently and making it possible to skip parts, which may be of interest at a later stage. The book is written in a way that a layman is able to get up to speed without explaining trivial topics. More advanced readers will profit from the in-depth explanations, by placing a particular business case or technology into the overall solution. Internet business seems easy but has many caveats, which are explained in this book and solutions are presented to overcome these problems.

Practical executive summary on e-business,
This review is from: E-business (R)evolution, The (Paperback)
The book is a practical-oriented summary on the developments in the e-business area. The existing developments are shown transparently and are easy to understand. It also offers a good view on future trends. The very useful demonstration of innovative technologies are always put in context with the implementation processes in various companies. The book does not only show the technology side of e-business, but also explains how to increase the value of the company by introducing the new paradigms on the Internet. The living language makes the book interesting and also very easy to read.

Good book to understand the e-business technologies,
This review is from: E-business (R)evolution, The (Paperback)
Most reviews dealing with this book relate on 2 points: - how great it is - how poorly edited it is The book web site " www.ebusinessrevolution has similar reviews. I would like to propose another view : This book is very good but adress only a specific public : - non technical people willing to understand e-biz related technologies and architecture - IT people willing to get a general survey on e-biz with a strong emphasis on technologyObviously, the book is the best documented survey on the technical side of e-biz, it covers all its component and after reading it you'll understand why is JAVA so hot and XML so promising and how it works On the other side, you will not be more knowledgeable about any business models or how you build you build your site to anticipate for performance deterioration. The "hello i'm on hte web to e-biz" framework is so obvious (by now, may be not the writing of the book) that it is not even relevant, also, the chapter on marketing is very limited. The next edition of the book should focus on its strenghts : presenting web technologies, applications and products. If you need a strong introduction to e-biz with technical emphasis, buy the book, other wise, go to more business oriented reading or concrete (how to) technical book)

Informative book on different aspects of e-business,
This review is from: E-business (R)evolution, The (Paperback)
A very concise book on the different topics around e-business. I liked very much the way business plans were developed and then matched against technologies. Unfortunately many companies tend to do it the other way round, starting with the technology.

I haven't finished yet reading the book, but it has already boosted my web site. Chapter 5 gives excellent advice on how to position the web site and how to make it more dynamic and therefore more interesting for the customer.
