Got this answer directly from SquareTrade's Twitter team: "We're so sorry but our plans on Amazon are only meant for Amazon devices."

I spoke with two SquareTrade representatives last week that told me no, that you must purchase the item through Amazon in order to purchase the warranty on Amazon.

I have been looking through lots of reviews and through their policy, and it seems like you can't. Amazon warranty is for amazon products. I think you've got to buy it directly through their website. It'd be rad if they actually write that down somewhere obvious.

YES! Just got off the phone with SquareTrade customer service. As long as the item is NEW, you can purchase a warranty on Amazon and apply it to the item bought elsewhere (ex: Best Buy)
