No you cannot record a CD onto the cassette, the cassette is a player only.

To record cd onto tape, press cd button, then start the recording. / you can also record audio from cassette radio or from an external source (ex: tv, computer), but NOT with a microphone----through the audio-in jack. Has audio out jack for headphones. all jacks 1/8" or 3.5 cm--- use ONLY type 1, normal bias tape. / have not recorded from cd, yet -- but, recording from cassette radio or external source, sounds just like the source--no loss of audio. -- use short tape like 30 min, as 60 or 90 tapes might drag----although have not tried longer tapes.

I have used both the CD and Cassette only in the playback mode. However, the Cassette has a record button and it has to get a source somewhere. I would assume it will record whatever is on (other than the Cassette) - radio or CD.
