5.0 out of 5 stars Physically Rivetting February 9, 2012
By Judder
Format:Kindle Edition
Psychics. Not something I would believe in or indeed think that I could believe in so I was very surprised when I found myself not cynical about this story! Linda Prather really drew me in and had me 100% convinced, there was no 'like that would ever happen moments'. I don't quite understand how she did that, if someone was to tell me a first hand account of something like this happening I don't think I could be as riveted as I was to this story. However, I was hampered by the fact I kept reading psychic as physic but that is no reflection on the author although perhaps I should get my eyes tested...

The story starts with a psychic Catherine, who is helping the police with a missing person investigation. Suddenly, the FBI appear and it seems that Catherine is wanted for murder, but did she really do it? The reader is taken on a roller-coaster journey following Catherine and 3 other characters as they try to get to the bottom of the strange happenings. At times it is unclear even who can be trusted or indeed if any of the characters can be trusted. The case finally takes them to Louisiana and the Bayou where the story reaches it's climax and resolves.

The whole way through the story I couldn't wait to read what would happen next, there seemed to be so many twists and turns that I couldn't predict what was coming. I couldn't read the story fast enough, a brilliant read that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a crime novel, especially if they enjoy something a little bit different to the norm.

Thanks Linda!

5.0 out of 5 stars An engrossing read February 12, 2012
By emzibah
Format:Kindle Edition
This is not a book that I would have normally picked up but I did so as it was a group read. I have to say that I absolutely loved it. Very original concept and a story that I got completely sucked in to.
The characterisation was fantastic and I cared about the goodies and wanted the baddies to get their comeuppance!
I would love to read more from this author and also more from these characters, I really want to know what happens next for them!

5.0 out of 5 stars It will leave you wanting a sequel.... January 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is my first Linda Prather novel and I will definitely be looking for more. The book starts off with chills, introduces the basic characters and then never stops. Twists and turns are mixed with chills and thrills that will keep you constantly on the edge of your seat.

The characters are realistic and believable...even if you don't believe in psychics, you may be left with some doubts at the end of the book. Once I started reading, I had a hard time stopping.

Ms. Prather, I sure hope there are some Catherine Mans sequels in the works!

There is plenty of blood and carnage but oddly enough very little foul language and sex in this book. This fact made the book less boring. Read more

More About the Author

Born in Kentucky in 1955. I currently live in Lexington, Kentucky with my fiancé, Coby W. Fuson. I have two wonderful sons, Charles and Steven.
I have always loved reading and writing. And although perhaps not a great literary work, I loved and was inspired by Old Yeller. The characters in that book were real to me. When I started writing, it was my greatest desire to write characters that readers could love and hate, laugh and cry with.
Knowledge was another love. I wanted to learn about everything. I studied metaphysics; delving into touch healing, dream analysis, meditation, and hypnosis. I received my associate's degree in metaphysics in 1992 and continued from there to become a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. I spent several years studying the effects of hypnosis on cancer and pain. I taught meditation, dream analysis and self-hypnosis through Eastern Kentucky University's Special Programs for four years. The power of the mind has always fascinated me. I've recently become a paranormal investigator, and love old houses that go bump in the night.

The Gifts and coming soon Sacred Secrets are a combination of my love of mystery, metaphysics and the paranormal.
