Yes. Any camera that allows for aperture mode/control can take a picture with a blurred background. That blur is not an effect; it's a combination of settings that change the depth of field.
Make sure you're shooting in plenty of light, put the camera in aperture mode, and then lower the aperture number little by little: take a few shots with an object in focus, lowering the aperture setting every few pictures. You will see the background go from clear to fuzzy the lower the number. Make sure you have plenty of light though, or else you won't achieve a nice clear image!
Yes this camera will have a blurred background, it will also blurr anything infront of the object which I have found very useful. This can be done in the Auto setting or as already stated manual control.
