4.0 out of 5 stars plenty of action, September 2, 2011
This review is from: The cargo club (Paperback)
The Cargo Club is the 3rd in the Ray Crawley series by Peter Corris. Posing as a businessman, FSA operative, Ray Crawley, is sent to the Pacific Island Republic of Vitatavu to discredit the Resources Minister, Joseph de Pommeroi, who seems to be a bit too friendly with the Russians. After a meeting with de Pommeroi to put his plan into action, he runs into the Cargo Club, a group of local businessmen opposed to de Pommeroi. Meanwhile, his Vitatavu FSA contact is murdered in Crawley's hotel room, apparently a case of mistaken identity. Who is behind the killing? Is it the Company (CIA), the Brits, Pacific Liberation Army (with links to the Libyans), the more moderate Movement for Melanesian Unity or someone in de Pommeroi's pay? Is the FSA setting him up? Before Ray is even aware of the murder, he is arrested by Army Intelligence. Events soon take an unexpected turn and Crawley finds himself traipsing through the jungle with the leader of the MMU, the increasingly maniacal priest Paul Beni. Huck flys in from Melbourne to see if he can extricate his mate. Will Crawley escape with his life? Plenty of action in this Peter Corris tale.
