Why do all the cars have the steering wheel on the right side?

Well, this is a late answer to an old post, but that's where the steering wheels were on American cars of the time (even though we were driving on the right side of the road, I believe) - maybe it was convenient for the driver to be on the curb side. Do a Google image search for the 1907 Thomas Flyer (the inspiration for Leslie's car) or a Stanley Steamer like Maggie's.
