I am only sorry I have not read this book earlier.,
This review is from: The Children of Abraham (Hardcover)
I had this book on my "must read shelf" for years. It was not until I accidentally picked up Sefora, a more recent one of Marek Halter's works, that I was so motivated to actually read it.
It is the most gripping book I have read in a very long time. There is so much factual substance and yet, it is so very readable. Simply a master of story telling woven like fine old lace. I cannot say more except if you don't read it, you are missing out on something.

MODERN JEWISH HISTORY THROUGH THE EXPERIENCES OF ONE FAMILY,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Children of Abraham (Hardcover)
VERY WELL WRITTEN,(ALTHOUGH A TRANSLATION FROM FRENCH I BELIEVE).EXCITING. IT WOULD EVEN MAKE A GREAT MOVIE! THE COINCIDENCES WORK LIKE A DICKENS NOVEL. THE STORY WORKS WELL EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NOT AS YET READ "THE BOOK OF ABRAHAM", WHICH THIS IS A SEQUEL TO.

This review is from: The Children of Abraham (Hardcover)
Marek (in Paris) has relatives all of the globe. New York-Moscow-
Buenos Aires & Israel. This book starts off with the assassination of his cousin Hugo Halter (march 1961) in Israel. In his search for why Hugo was killed Marek will travel all over the world. He will meet family members in each of the country's above. He will tell you what is going on in each of their lives & tie it into Hugo's life and death. Did the Arabs or the Jews kill him? Was he a spy? The book jacket says it best-THIS IS A NOVEL OF INTRIGUE, JUDAISM,CONFLICTS,CONTRADICTIONS,STRUGGLES & ACHIEVEMENTS. This is part 2 of the BOOK OF ABRAHAM. I LOVE THIS BOOK. I LOVE HALTER. |
