More About the Author

My name is Dan Jackson. I am the father of two boys (aged 7 and 10 years) and of a baby girl. I am from Ontario, Canada originally.

I have been writing from an early age, even when I was a student at school I was always writing. At first, I only wrote part-time, until I made the decision to become a full-time writer.

Over the last two years, I have written many different genres of books: Children's books, How-to books, thrillers and many more.

For my first book, I got the inspiration for writing from my sons weird questions: "Say dad, what will happen if a dog wants to be a cat" or what if a horse wants to be a seahorse? The result of him asking me such profound questions, was books based upon such themes.

During the last two years I have been traveling. I have traveled throughout a great world that I think most of you, the authors, have explored. I must say...it is a crazy world out there!

This book is a story, based on not only my but also your journey as indie authors.

This book is dedicated to you, the author. It does not matter in which genre you are writing, you will probably experience (or you may already have) the same journey, that I have traveled and the same journey that my hero in this book is experiencing.

This Book is about inspiration and self-belief. Belief in yourself and belief in your book.

This book ends with a request to "conquer" the #1 Best Seller Mountain, of which

I have succeeded in doing. Some of my books were (and still are) hitting the number 1 Best Seller and I DO have some tips to offer.

By now, I am sure that you have probably come across or read, the vast amount of information there is out there about how to succeed as a best-selling author. Believe me, I know, there's lots!

The electronic version of this book had many typos and being a children's book it was difficult to see missing words and typos while my seven year old tried to read it. The cat on the cover is what drew my son to the book and is misleading because the cat isn't even in the story. Very disappointed in this book.

Dan Jackson obviously loves to write and create books for children. He has a very large collection of published works and he never seems to repeat himself with ideas. Mixing photography with drawings and prose, Jackson aims for the middle of the target of a child's imagination and always hits his mark!

Marry is a Cat who would prefer to be a DINOSAUR. Why? Because dinosaurs are so big, have footprints larger than a man, come in so many species (excellent drawings of 30 of those species), so she could fly and dive and be discovered by anthropologists, and be presented in museums. Dinosaurs are so big, and heavy and tall and fly (depending on the species), AND if Marry were a dinosaur she would be in coloring books and shaped as toys. But most of all men would be constantly searching for her tracks - clues to discovery.

Dan Jackson presents such a fine combination of photographs of dinosaur reconstructions both in natural history museums and in CGI effects and also in fossil findings that any child reading this book will be transposed into that fascinating world of the past. And who doesn't love dinosaurs?! Grady Harp, April 14

This is a really cute book for dinosaur fans

What I love about it:
Pictures - pictures in the book are very well done

Quick and easy read - quick and easy read, with words that are easy to understand. No hard vocabulary like words for young readers

Easy for kids to read themselves - kids can quickly learn all of the words in the story and read it themselves

What I don't like about it:
Cover - why is there a cat on the cover of a book about wishing you were a dinosaur? A better suited cover would have a child wearing a dinosaur shirt or a dinosaur. The cat does not make any sense and really made me say hmm

Fly is mentioned twice - the ability to fly as a reason to be a dinosaur is mentioned twice in the book. "I wish I were a dinosaur so I could fly" and again "And so that I can fly"

Spelling and grammar mistakes - some spelling and grammar mistakes throughout like starting a sentence with the word And as well as "I wish I were a dinosaurs so that people would make toys that look like me"

At the end of the day, it's a cute little book. I hope the author is working on a new cover as we speak!

I liked all the facts and pictures of what one of these creatures may have been like way back before a lot of us were even alive!
What may not have been so good though are a few simple typo errors in the book! I would recommend this ebook for kids
between the ages of 4-9 years of age especially. I think I will give this ebook five stars for all the simple short facts about what a kid
may think what it may have been like to have been a dinosaur, the discoveries that have been made and the great pictures.
Great job Dan! By Angela

Ok story, a little too repetitive ... maybe every other pages with I wish I were a Dinosaur verse. Not sure if on purpose or not, but many of the reasons were applicable to being a human, as well. For instance, "I wish I were a dinosaur because they can be many sizes."

Really liked the illustrations: actual pictures as well as drawings of everything from dinosaur bones to dinosaur toys.
