The door on the safe door closes but here is a lot of "play" in it.Can it be fixed? Since its not completely airtight are my docs safe in a fire and/or theft?

Hi K.,
Mine has a lot of play too when the door is closed & locked.
I think it is part of the design, and cannot be remediated.
I believe that it is fine against a fire or theft.
However, I think that there a risk a the docs getting wet in case of a flood. Have not tried this hypothesis though. I kept mine. (Did not return it.)

All I can say is the door should close tight, in order to be fire proof. If loose heat would buid inside enough to start burning inside. My door close very tight. You should be ok for theft, against minor theives. These will not keep out an expert safe person. Like mine for what it is, it will work fine for what I use it for. Also keep important papers, etc in bank safe deposit box.
