Is this camera compatible with Imovie. Can video be easily transfered from Internal to MacPro running Imovie

Yes it is, with iMovie 11. The camera allows you to record in two modes, iFrame and 1080/60 AVCHD. iMovie will only accept recordings in iFrame. You don't need a firewire cable but just the USB cable that comes with the video camera. To get around recording in AVCHD, I have Adobe Premier Elements for Mac, which I prefer over iMovie. Transfers 1080/60 AVCHD recordings without any problems.
