Who should read this book? Anyone looking for clear, relevant answers on how to best utilize their existing Exchange 2000 environment. -- C.A. Murff MCSE, MCT, CTT, CNA

About the Author

Liz Mason (MCSE, MCT, CTT) is founder and CEO of MicroStaff Information Technology (microstaffit.com), a consulting and training firm specializing in Microsoft BackOffice services. Liz has not strayed far from the server room in the past 18 years: She worked for NCR Corporation, starting in 1984, where she did development on MailReady, a C/UNIX messaging product. At NCR, she performed a variety of technical functions, from developing and maintaining NCR¡¯s UNIX SVRV.4 operating system, utilities, and applications, to international support for LAN/WAN Communications. When Microsoft introduced Windows NT, NCR assigned a team to the BackOffice products, and Liz was given EMS/Exchange. She has worked closely with the Exchange performance team at Microsoft for nearly two years on understanding server scalability and performance issues. In 1995, Liz founded MicroStaff, a Microsoft Solution Provider and Certified Technical Education Center. From her first project in Exchange migration at Shell Oil, to supporting and training the military, various government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies, Liz has continued to take on roles of support analyst, trainer, author, administrator, and consultant for Exchange and clustering. Liz was co-author for Sam¡¯s Exchange Administrator Survival Guide (Exchange 4.0). She has also developed three courses on Clustering for Windows NT utilizing Exchange and SQL, two administrator courses on Exchange 5.0 and 5.5, as well end-user manuals for Microsoft Outlook. She, and the team at MicroStaff, has focused on supporting and educating their clients on Exchange, Clustering, Windows NT/2000, IIS, SMS, and Disaster Recovery.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't expect the freebies they offer..., August 26, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: configuring exchange server 2000 (Mission Critical! Series) (Paperback)
Book is pretty good, but it offers a free DVD (after 6 month update), a Palm version (not really available on their web site), and free MP3's from the author to listen to while commuting (also nor really available on their web site). I feel cheated, as the front and back of the book promise all these freebies, but in reality, Syngress doesn't follow through... Be warned

2.0 out of 5 stars Could be better, much better!, June 18, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: configuring exchange server 2000 (Mission Critical! Series) (Paperback)
I was really hoping this book would be THE E2K BOOK! I was wrong: poorly written, really weird chapter structure (actual installation of E2K is reviewed in Chapter 6!!), thoughts are not clearly expressed and important details are missed out. Will work as a quick reference (partly) but you will want to buy at least another book on the subject. Too bad tech-for-tech approach didn't work this time. I'll wait until O'Reily comes up with one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shows how to integrate Active Directory, June 6, 2003
This review is from: configuring exchange server 2000 (Mission Critical! Series) (Paperback)
This was the only book that did a really good job of explaining how to install and configure Exchange with Active Directory. No easy task. I thought it was a straight forward presentation
