Good Selection and Full of Pictures,
By neone (PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The cook's encyclopedia of cookies (Paperback)
This book has a well done introductory section on tools and techniques. Each recipe has pictures of both preparation and the finished product. There is a better variety of recipes than most basic cookie books which recycle the same basic dough into several "different" cookies. The only fault might be the binding (sort of a cardstock paperback) which doesn't seem like it will last through too much usage.I would recommend this book to both novices wanting to become more experienced cookie bakers and bakers wanting to expand their recipe options.

This review is from: The cook's encyclopedia of cookies (Paperback)
While this book has lots of great pictures, the recipes aren't all that great. I've made about 10 different cookies in the book and have found that many of them are not as easy as they sound. Many of the doughs require "rolling out" or "balling" and the doughs are just too sticky to do so. I found some of the recipes really frustrating. Plan to spend A LOT of time trying to figure out NEW ways to make the cookies work. =)
