5.0 out of 5 stars An honest assessment, September 12, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Un cri dans le silence (Paperback)
Bardot's book has caused quite a major controversy since it was published...many people were allegedly offended by the former sex symbol's honest and truthful evaluation of our society today. Yet she did speak her mind and why should she be condemned for this? So many of us, perhaps inundated and drowned by the current wave of being politically correct just refuse to open our minds to the issues that she brought up...the exploitation of the social welfare system, the gagging of freedom of speech by bringing incitement to hatred as an excuse and the convenience of pretending that our modern society is OK through a shroud of self-denial.Furthermore, many quotes were taken out of the book in little snippets thus taking things out of context. Yes, Bardot did say a few not too complimentary things about some aspects of homosexuality but if you read that chapter in its entirety you cannot call her a homophobe. What she was doing was simply expressing her own opinion about a small proportion of the gay community....not condemning homosexuals as a whole. The same goes for calling her a racist, did she denounce any particular group just for being of a certain race/creed and by that virtue alone? NO she did not. Her evaluation simply invited us to think and mull over how society has evolved and caved in under the auspices of this world gone mad with its desire to maintain political correctness. Brigitte Bardot has been a formidable woman whose devotion to animal rights has shown us her sincere combat for the protection of other species on the planet. Whether you are a fan or not she has done a lot for the good of animals and this selfless devotion and sacrifice as well as her honesty in this book deserves a standing ovation. Bardot...you are an asset and may you keep up your good work. BRAVO!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars thank you for your honesty brigitte!, June 15, 2004

thank you for sharing your honest thoughts with the world, brigitte! it is insane that france has decided to fine you yet again for your comments of truth about the infidel muslims. you have been a beacon all your life: your beauty on screen, your stance and actions protecting animals, and now as a defender and champion of the west in it's greatest time of need and danger (from the islamic terrorist wackos).

5.0 out of 5 stars Chere Brigitte, cela ne faite rien., June 19, 2008

This review is from: Un cri dans le silence (Paperback)
The French legal system has treated Bardot horribly. She is allowed to say what she wants. I didn't agree with every word but I understand how she feels the way she does. I loved the chapter where she complains how people dress now. I loved another chapter where she talks about how much she enjoys her pretty, long hair. I was not so fond of all she said but I still adore Brigitte Bardot. Any chance I get I like to visit her fondation or send a donation although the economy now is too bad to travel or make donations, at least, for me it is. Anyway G-d bless Brigitte Bardot for being so beautiful and for her work with animals.
