i am looking to start reading some novels and i have always been into fantasy and medieval and good vs evil kinda stuff. swords sheilds, wizards, magic, damsels, castles and the like.

anyway i am looking for some good books and/or authors to start with, who are some good ones? also i am into heavy metal music and that has kinda influenced me towards the dark fantasy stuff.

Broks and Eddings are about as far from 'Dark' fantasy as you can get. If you are looking for a series of Dark Fantasy try Ravenloft books, such as I: Strahd. Vampires of the Mist among others.
