5.0 out of 5 stars Flynn- From Hard Rockin' XYZ to the A-list
For those of you who still remember the bands of the 80's and early 90's that had some of the most talented singers this album is for you. Flynn a.k.a Terry Ilous, former singer of XYZ, has produced an album of incredible songs. His voice is like no other. Full of emotion and depth. This is not an 80's style album by no means. It is acoustically based and has a...

2.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!
I FIND THIS CD TO BE A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!! TERRY, YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED WITH XYZ. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW, FLYNN'S REAL NAME IS "TERRY ILOUS" THE FAMOUS SINGER FROM THE HAIR BAND XYZ AND ALSO EX-FRONTMAN FOR THE BAND CAGE. I AM A HUGE XYZ FAN AND NOT ONLY IS THE MUSIC FROM TERRY'S NEW RELEASE DISAPPOINTING BUT THE FACT THAT HE MAKES NO REFERENCE...

5.0 out of 5 stars The musical equivalent of a sigh, November 1, 2000

This review is from: The day I spoke to dog (Audio CD)
The melodies are beautiful; the songs will have you singing along immediately; it's a good stress reliever. The reason why, possibly that Terry makes no mention of XYZ is that he wants his present work judged for what it is, and besides, it's nothing like XYZ, which was a bluesy pop metal band from the late 80s. Great, fun band, but so is this, only in a different way. Flynn's The Day I Spoke To Dog is a CD that will just make you feel good, from the inside out. It's cleansing.

I first downloaded some clips to listen - and was frozen to the chair! One of my fave. voices from the past, but definitely living in the present moment (something we should all try harder to do)!! I bought the CD, and it didn't leave my player for months. These are absolutely beautiful songs, everyone should check the CD out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Why Isn't Flynn A Major Superstar?, November 21, 2000

When I purchased this CD, it wasn't until I came to this page and discovered that Flynn and Terry Ilous were the same person. Not being of the heavy metal mentality (even 10 years ago), I had to do some research and listen to some of XYZ's songs. In spite of my non-metal tastes, I found them to be really talented and enormously enjoyable.

But I can see why Flynn has distanced himself from his past. He has a totally different sound and his music has very, very little in common with Cage or XYZ. This is the most moving and thrilling CD I've found in years. Flynn has his own distinct sound and way of putting a lyric across that I find amazing. Plus the fact that -- except for one -- he wrote all the songs AND does all the background voices lets me know that this is one of the most talented people in show business today. I'm going to do my part in making sure that more people find out about him. I am totally flipped for Flynn!

Finally an album that's emotional without being angry or depressing! The lyrics are catchy and the beat moves on. Flynn's voice invites you to sing along. Great cover of "All Right Now." "You've Got to Believe" is a fun song to sing along with while driving. "I Can't Fly" is just down-right motivating.

TERRY I THINK YOU CAN DO A LOT BETTER. IF YOUR AN XYZ FAN DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS ONE!!!!! TWO STARS IS BEIN' GENEROUS.
