Smoothly written, the author paints a colorful picture.
The author, Ann Halam, tells this fantasy with a creative, yet efficient style that keeps the story moving. This is the story of Zanne, a young woman with mystical powers that are a constant worry to her mother, head covenor of their small Hamlet. Zanne takes a journey to find the mysterious "daymaker" in order to become a full-fledged covenor.
