A Unique Educational tool,

My eight-year-old cousin who has been diagnosed 6 months ago, really took to this CD-ROM.
He played it several times and kept asking more questions every time about blood glucose, insulin, pancreas, carbs.. - it really got him interested in the details of his own condition. A big factor, I believe, was that this learning game showed him that he is not alone with diabetes and there are many other kids who deal with the same issues every day. Very impressive piece of interactive software. Apparently people who created it have done research both in the diabetes care and in learning methods and knowledge acquisition. Most importantly, they cared that kids with diabetes learn to be in control of their condition and feel like equals to others. In brief, it's a great way to learn about diabetes, even for peple who do not have the condition (like myself). |
