Do not think this is a 'soft' ball. Out of the box, it is almost as hard as a baseball, though it does soften a bit when same he ball is used over multiple games, practices, or multiple seasons.

You do not use gloves with this ball and is pitched underhand and with a minimum arc. Fielders should keep their fingers spread wide to have jams, sprain or breaks. Third basemen and first basemen are especially prone to hand injury.

If you wear a glove while playing 16" ball, you will look silly, and you will be considered are a sissy.

Don't do it.
