can't decide between xz-1 and pen mini. any thoughts? I am a stay at home mom but I love getting good shots of anything from landscape to my children. While I think a smaller camera might be better to tote around along with everything else the kids need, I can't resist the larger sensor and a few of the other features of the Pen mini.

I've owned both. The XZ-1 is smaller, a real "take it with you anywhere" kind of camera. The picture quality, though, while good, is nowhere near that of the much larger sensor Pen. Pen jpeg processing is also much better, with user set parameters if wanted. The kit lens on the Pen is slower, but the high iso files are much better. They are really two different types of camera, the Pen being a small, mirrorless system camera that will allow you to grow (with new lenses); the XZ-1 is a terrific little compact, one of the best in its class, with a better lens than most, but still with the limitation of that kind of camera. Hope that helps.
