A
When using the flash it recharges in about 4-5 seconds. Without the flash it can take pictures in succession probably 1-2 seconds I believe, I think there is a burst mode/continuous also. The autofocus and picture processing is much faster than older Nikon Coolpix. I have an older SDHC card as well so it may respond faster with a newer faster card.

I think that I was having trouble with my card, BUT I have had problems with it taking as long as 5-7 or so seconds. Which is a long time when you are trying to capture your mobile children!
