Great recipes and pictures: All what a cookbook needs,
By
This review is from: delicious days (Paperback)
This cookbook is one of a kind:
* It has great looking pictures of great looking food - real food, that has not been styled with paint, hairspray, etc. If you cook a recipe you can be sure that it is really going to look like in the book. * It has great recipes that make you stand up from your couch and go looking in your pantry. No, she doesn't have any "breakthrough" recipes, no inventions important for the mankind, but easy to follow recipes with ingredients you can easily find and results that will make everyone ask for more. A lot of inspirations, nice combinations and you can be sure to get what she promises to deliver. And you can be sure that she has cooked these recipes, all of them and more than once, she knows the nooks and the crannies and warns you of pitfalls and gives valuable tips. * And it has great stories, the personal touch that most cookbooks miss. Some will remind you of your own experiences and some will make you curious about the subject. A friend of mine, who has been living in Italy for 10 years, said after reading Nicky's account of her childhood visits to Italy with the grandparents: "Yes, exactly, this is it, so is Italy, she understands the soul of it". And the neighborhood cafe she is talking about makes me want to take a trip to Munich, visit this woman and drink a Latte Macchiato with her. * Some details: A light tendency to desserts and baked goods, the savory dishes with an emphasis on vegetables (but not totally vegetarian - look for the great duck recipe!), cuisines of many countries/regions that you can cook almost anywhere in the world. What else can you want of a cookbook?

Warm, Personal, Delicious!,
This review is from: delicious days (Paperback)
I met Nicky a couple of years ago through her delicious days blogsite. My husband had discovered the site and knew I would be captivated by the images, writing style and recipes. I have been an avid follower ever since. Even so, I can't believe how much I enjoyed this book! I love the stories Nicky tells, the people she introduces us to, the spectacular images and the down-to-earth, multi-cultural recipes she includes. I have tried several of the recipes - the Tipsy Duck Breast with Root Vegetables, the Chicken Liver Pate with Pistachios and the Rice Pudding with Caramel Apples. All were simple to make and delicious, especially the Tipsy Duck Breast. The crowning jewel was the duck cracklings on top! I highly recommend this book.

I had only been following her blog for a couple of months, but the recipes were so fun that when I found out she had a cookbook I had to have it. It did not disappoint! The recipes are every bit as amazing in the book and the stories that go along with them are insightful and bring your closer to the recipe. I can't wait to cook from this book.

Perfection from Beginning to End!,

This review is from: delicious days (Paperback)
I have been a follower of the Delicious Food blog for over a year now, and I could not wait for Nicky's book to be released! And it was definitely worth the wait! I read it from front to back in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. Not only did the amazing photography on every page capture my attention, but her wit and knowledge of food is extraordinary! I love how she connects food with happiness and making friends - it is so true! Thank you Nicky for such a great book that I will be read many times.

An accidental discovery,
This review is from: delicious days (Paperback)
I accidentally discovered the delicious days blog when trying to find a recipe for an Austrian candy confection. Much to my surprise, a lot of the recipes from Nicole's Oma, are also the foods that I grew up eating! I have been eagerly awaiting the shipment of my delicious days copy and have not been disappointed. The recipes and photos of the food are outstanding. I can't wait to start cooking and baking from the book.
Kaisersmarrn is something my Mom has made for my sister and me and also for my children. I think I'll surprise her and make it for her instead. Thank you, thank you, thank you Nicole. Now I just need to know if there is a way I can get my hands on a copy in German!

I've loved her website for a while now, and was pleased with the book. There are some very unique recipes yet also some old recipes from her family. I'm glad I got it.
