5.0 out of 5 stars Review of The Parks Canada Glass Glossary, May 26, 2008
By
This review is from: The Parks Canada glass glossary for the description of containers, tableware, flat glass, and closures (Studies in archaeology, architecture, and history) (Paperback)
This is a must volume for the serious archaeologist involved in glass analysis. Heavy with definitions of glass terminology and nomenclature. Reviews the history of early manufacturing techniques and presents the information in a 'how to' format that gives the reader an understanding of the process. Glass containers and tableware are covered and presented separately, providing vessel anatomy and lots of comparative illustrations on bases and finishes. There are also brief sections on closures and flat glass. Extremely well done and detailed. Bibliography and index, 185 pgs. Research Publications, Parks Canada, Ottawa, Ontario. 1985.
