This is an ingenuous idea to link music with poetry in a totally unique way. I love the synergy between taking the text of great speeches and poetry and relating them to the lives of great leaders, with a new interpretation from Mohammed's music. This is a real game changer and a must have!

Astonishing Disc

The title comes from W. H. Auden. Like Auden mourning Yeats, Mohammed Fairouz draws inspiration from the work, and the loss, of John F. Kennedy and Anwar Sadat. Bringing his own endlessly fertile imagination to Auden’s poetry and the words of Seamus Heaney (whom the composer knew and worked with), Fairouz has created a musical experience that is as deeply moving as it is artistically exciting. The performers, from New York’s performance venue Le Poisson Rouge, couldn’t be better. I’ve already listened to the disc three times, and I will keep coming back to it. Not to be missed!

Is it bad to say I like being treated like I'm intelligent? Really thoughtful selections, beautiful narrative music, substantive but not ponderous, a great intro for younger music lovers, Muldoon is great; I recommend this wholeheartedly.
