5.0 out of 5 stars talking alarm
Absolutly the best. Loud voice or just "sounds" alarms. It is so cool. I bought 2. One stays at the computer and one either travels with me, or just a 2nd reminder for the other side of the house. Easily hear over loud music or TV. Guess a third would be nice, but probable just missplaced.....needs a "clapper" finder....LOL

If a over talkative friend...

3.0 out of 5 stars great to help kids get ready in the morning
We were running out of ways to get my kids up and ready without alot of nagging and this seems to be working. I set it for the time I want them to be downstairs and it counts down outloud.

Also note that you have to pull down the bottom section to get to some of the features. They don't tell you this in the instructions.

If a over talkative friend calls your cell phone, put on the minutes you want to talk and press start. And then you can say "need to go, the alarm is going off", and no need to tell what alarm. But the voice clearly says time like: 2 minutes left, 1 minute left, and then an every 10 second interval.

That can be annoying or just the ticket!! If time management at home is a problem, this is the greatest. Just set the timer for 30 minutes or what ever, and keep the timer either in pocket, or at desk and it gives you a deadline....and a honking horn plus a voice...LOL. But Very effective.

What is so cool is how versatal it is....clips to anything, stands up, or magnet, and much more high tech cool look than photo.

Cons: None so far

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent if you need to take meds every 4- 6 hours, October 8, 2008
This review is from: Compact Talking Timer & Clock (Health and Beauty)
This was such an answer to prayer!!! My father has Parkinsons Disease and needs to take his meds every 4 hours on the dot. I had looked at alarm clocks that had mulitple alarms for this purpose but they were so expensive. Beings that the price of this item was inexpensive I bought it on a gamble. Well - it wasn't a gamble, but an investment in my Dad's health. We are able to set the countdown alarm to sound every 4 hours as a reminder for my Dad to take his meds. There is a talking method for the coutdown (which can be annoying but you can turn it off) and just use one of 5-6 different sounds to go off when it is time to take his meds. Both my Dad, his caregiver, physical therapist, nurse and I, are amazed that we found what we needed for med reminders in such a handy, inexpensive, reliable product. If you MUST take your meds at recurring times -- please don't hesitate to buy. You can set this to recurring times once and be done. This has imporved my Dad's health so I urge you to get it if you are on strict medication regimes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Talking Timer at the model flying field, December 29, 2010

I fly electric powered model radio controlled airplanes. To run out of battery when you are flying is a big problem as we fly in the desert and cactus are not too friendly to model planes. The Talking Timer lets me set a flying time and not have to take my eyes off my plane when it announces that I should land.

A lot of my pilot friends have purchased them after seeing / hearing how good they are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive!, February 19, 2009

This will be my third one to buy. I originally bought this for my grandson for his 5th birthday. He's addicted to timers, clocks and anything mechanical. The first one broke and the company quickly sent me a brand new replacement. The second one he's used and abused for over a year and has now lost it. He's bugging me every day "I need my talking timer!" So, I'm going to order another one. It is a pretty slick little device. Don't bother with the instructions. A five year old (without a Master's degree I might add) figured out all the functions in no time. Love it!

NICE VOICE...THAT'S ALL...THAT IS WORKING...THE DEVICE IS AMBIGUOUS TO OPERATE AND PROGRAM; THE DIRECTIONS ARE CONFUSING, AND DON'T MATCH THE REALITY OF THE UNIT. WHY THIS HAS TO BE CONFUSING IS DISGUSTING...WHERE'S THE SWITCH: SET TIMER, SET ANYTHING...DON'T BUY IT.

5.0 out of 5 stars The talking part is very useful, May 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Compact Talking Timer & Clock (Health and Beauty)
The talking part is very useful when I am busy with other things and moving around alot, especially for long term timing. It keeps me from forgetting that I have to do someting later. I just bought a second unit for the bedroom. It can have more authority than the snoose alarm.
The voice can be turned off, and 5 alarm sounds can be selected for different meanings. The voice announces each hour until 1 hour is left, then every 10 minutes until 10 minutes are left, then each minute until 1 minute is left, then every 10 seconds until 10 seconds are left, then every second. You separatly set the number of hours, number of minutes, and number of seconds. This means that to set 59 minutes you must push the minute button 59 times rather than a 5 and a 9 as on some timers. But I find this to be only a slight disadvantage. You can keep the memory set at 30 minutes and add minutes (or hours) to it so you never have to push the minute button more than 29 times.
The clock and voice must be quite efficient because the battery lasts a very long time.
This timer only times one thing at a time, so I have other timers for multiple timing. But this one is clearly my favorite. Well designed and well made; a quality item.

5.0 out of 5 stars Effective, February 28, 2010

This is actually my second one, because I thought I was ordering a different type. This is effective in counting time up and down and even time over. I like to set it for the time I think I need to get something done. It counts down the time and I let it run its course, then it starts counting how much time over. I'm lerning to better manage my time by learning just how much time I really use. It does get very annoying when counting down that last minute, though.

I bought this for my elderly, diabetic mother to remind her to eat every 4 hours. This timer does not just chime every 4 hours as I wanted it to do...........oh no............it reminds you CONSTANTLY, like every few mintues that the scheduled time is approaching. Terribly irrating, in my opinion. I wasted [...] bucks. I put it back in the box and stuck it in a drawer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compact Talking Timer, August 9, 2007

My husband who ordinarily has me set his watch, dial the phone, and re-set his remote control for him, has mastered this timer and absolutely LOVES it. We are on a well so we have to monitor our lawn watering. He clips this timer on his pocket and loves the talking countdown feature, ie: " 7 minutes", "3 minutes", etc. He uses it to barbeque steaks or remind him of a particular time to make a phone call! (I still dial!) With it's magnetic back, he sticks it to the fridge so he always knows where to find it.
