Q My uncle, who is 82, has very low blood pressure and he suffers from occasional fainting spells. Should he seek treatment?
A A medical assessment is recommended if a person's low blood pressure (hypotension) causes noticeable symptoms, if blood pressure plunges suddenly, or if at least one number in the blood pressure ratio falls below 90 systolic or 60 diastolic. Usually, low blood pressure can be easily resolved, but in some instances it may indicate a serious medical condition.
