Hi John Mathew. From what I have heard it does work with Vonage provided you use a separate ATA (analogue terminal adapter) as the SBG6580 does not have a built-in one. But, you can plug the ATA into one of the Ethernet ports, there are four available. I tell you what I personally use for my phone service. OBI100 (available through Amazon for $40) I associated two different FREE Google Voice numbers with area codes I chose. For a total cost of $40, I have amazingly good quality VOIP, free long distance to US and Canada and crazy inexpensive international calling, voice mail, caller ID, call conferencing, call forwarding, block unwanted callers. You may want to try the OBI100 or OBI110 (with a landline or another VOIP like Vonage). Set up is very straight forward. You can plug the OBI device to one of the phone jacks and all your phones can be plugged to any wall jack just like a landline. However, if you still rather use Vonage, yes, you will be able to use it, but purchase an ATA if you do not already have one. Hope I helped you. If you need further assistance I will be happy to answer your question, if I have the information. Good Luck.
You need to call Vonage. I used to be their customers and they sent me Cisco router. This Cisco router I replaced by this Motorola wireless. Now I'm using PhonePower already 3 years. They sent me their adapter, which I conncected to Motorola and have no problems at all. This is the reason, why I'm writing so long answer. I left Vonage for PhonePower and very happy with my desiccation. The perfect customer support and nice-nice price. Just check them out. http://www.phonepower.com/voiphome.aspx And Motorola wireless router works very-very good, no any problems with motorola and phonepower. Good Luck!
