The lens works great. I really got it to take photos indoors or in close quarters with people. But I have used it outdoors in some of my wildlife photography & the photos are crisp and sharp. Hope that helps seabiscuit1958

Well, it's really not the same kind of lens. A 5-20mm is a bit more of a wide-angle lens than this one. This lens has about the same field of vision as the human eye. If you're asking how it compares, it really doesn't - not because it's inferior or low-quality, but because it's not really meant to be used for the same thing. I've bought a couple of other lenses for my Canon Rebel, but I always find myself going back to this one because it works for all but the most specialized tasks - but even though it's not a telephoto lens, it does give a nice bokeh if you focus it properly.

this lens may be 2 times better than the lens of SD1400, but the CMOS is 8 times better than that of SD1400
