Awesome books from an awesome writer,
By Dave (Lexington, Kentucky) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Door in the Dragon's Throat (The Cooper Kids Adventure Series #1) (Paperback)
It's Frank Peretti's brilliant novel writing skills...condensed! It's a super-cool family of archeologists--minus a mother--who investigate phenomena in the spirit of Indiana Jones, only with a Christian perspective. The Door in the Dragon's Throat introduces us to our heroes, as they travel to the deserts of Nepal to investigate the mysterious Door that causes so much fear and panic. Their Christian beliefs are challenged, their lives threatened, and their strength tested before the books end. And you won't believe the ending. It's...out of this world. ;) It's an action-packed mini-novel for kids, and even grown-ups, if they are so inclined. There's action, suspense, intrigue, and some scary stuff too! And you gotta love Dr. Coopers .357! Here's a little parental warning though, in case you are wondering what kind of stuff might be inappropriate for younger kiddos. The group come across some skeletons of past searchers, and there is a VERY intense scene at the end...but I read them when I was only 10, and it didn't give me any nightmares. Excellent novels, with great Christian morals packed in too. Forget Harrison Ford! Grab a copy of...The Door in the Dragon's Throat!!

The Best Book Every Written,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Door in the Dragon's Throat (The Cooper Kids Adventure Series #1) (Paperback)
The Door in the Dragon's Throat was so powerful and exciting. I could have read it all in two minutes, it was so good. Frank Peretti has always been my favorite author because sometimes, I like to read 100 pages or so of how powerful God really is compared to Satan. I thought it was very thrilling and it kept my heart pounding the whole time I read it because it is reality. Here is another 5 star comment on this wonderful book. Don't listen to that 1 star comment because they don't know what they talking about! They are crazy to think an excellent Christian book showing how God is so powerful is bad for their children! It is definately a must for all young Christian readers.

Excellent Series,
By Dan (Heidleberg, Germany) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Door in the Dragon's Throat (The Cooper Kids Adventure Series #1) (Paperback)
When I was younger I read the first four books in this series. I had no idea that religious fiction could be so good. Now after reading several of his other works, Peretti has become my favorite author. As for the guy who claims "hidden agendas," Peretti is a well known RELIGIOUS writer. I also believe that on the back of the book it mentions the characters spiritual beliefs. I didn't find the characters shallow, but strong in heart. Every book was suspensful and hard to put down.

Hit Its Mark,
This review is from: The Door in the Dragon's Throat (The Cooper Kids Adventure Series #1) (Paperback)
My boys enjoyed hearing this story read aloud to them. It is tense with suspense that is combined with a realistic adventure. Although the ending felt slightly less satisfying than the rest of the book, Peretti was able to give biblical concepts and a great story for the 9-14 age group. This book as a whole hit its mark in the lives of my boys.

The Door in the Dragon's Throat,
By Leslie A. Johnson (Lakeland, Fl United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Door in the Dragon's Throat (The Cooper Kids Adventure Series #1) (Paperback)
This is the best book that I have ever read. The enthralment and the mystery will keep you that you don't want to put it down. The author has a vivid immagination but yet the moral of the story is so real that you will make sure that you can follow God in the direction that he wants. To me there should not be an age limit on this book young adults and the older one will love it just the same. I hope that Mr. Peretti never stops writing books with the adventures of the Cooper Kids. Richard I am 13 and would recommend this 150% to all.....

Good vs Evil - the next round,
By Amanda Richards (Georgetown, Guyana) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Door in the Dragon's Throat (The Cooper Kids Adventure Series #1) (Paperback)
While visiting a book fair recently, I came across a whole pile of young adult fiction and picked up titles randomly without even reading the back covers. I had no clue therefore that Frank Peretti specializes in Christian fiction, but it didn't take me long to discover that this is no ordinary fiction series.
A combination of Indiana Jones and the Hardy Boys, the main characters are Dr. Cooper, an archaeologist and explorer of deep religious conviction, and his two children Jay and Lila, who accompany him on his expeditions as his assistants. This first adventure takes them to the nation of Nepur, where a mysterious door stands in a deep cavern. Local folklore indicates that the place is cursed, but that a treasure beyond belief lies waiting behind door number one. The Coopers are tested by the greed of local authorities, local legend, and a Shaman with beliefs different to their own Christian doctrine. The story essentially focuses on the constant battle between good and evil, and while the plot is good, there are too many cliches and it's a tad heavy in places where the dogma is laid on a bit too thickly. Door in the Dragon's Throat,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Door in the Dragon's Throat (The Cooper Kids Adventure Series #1) (Paperback)
An amazing adventure that keeps on the edge of your bed/seat. It is about how the power of God is more powerful than anything else. It is a Christian Fiction. It is about how a door, has been sealed for centuries. Many Expiditions have been made but all have been either scared off or failed but worst of all, never came out. Dr. Cooper and his children are taken there. They are not scared of what evil lurks within the Dragon's Throat. President Al Dallam wants the treasure behind but, the siesmic-meter says that the space behind the door goes on forever. Is there really treasure behind there? If not, what is? You have to read this book, it is the most AMAZING I have EVER read.

This book ISN'T just for children!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The door in the dragon's throat (A Crossway youth book) (Paperback)
When I sat down to read this book, I didn't quite know what to expect. I had read Mr. Perettis' larger novels (The Darkness Series, Prophet, Tilly, and The Oath). I thought to myself, "Well, this is just a kids book, something to pass the time away". Boy was I wrong. This book 'blessed my socks off'. It was like watching a saved Indiana Jones. This book set the stage for the entire Cooper Kids Adventure Series (of which I am a dedicated fan, thanks to this opening story). Mr. Peretti stayed true to his writing stlye and I enjoyed the story line from beginning to end. Bravo for Mr. Peretti taking time out to write for kids and still reach adults at the same time.
