This is a well-written and thoughtful book, but it's a bit wordy and factual for the early (2 1/2 - 3 year-old) preschool set. Probably better for child who is starting preschool at age 3 1/2 - 4.

We got this for my two year old who will be starting preschool in about a month. He loved this book and is so excited about going to preschool. He has to pack his backpack and a pretend lunch every morning then he carries his backpack around all day! It answers all the questions kids might have about preschool and it doesn't talk about being scared of going to school which most books do and we don't want him to expect to be scared so this book is perfect!

My son, who has Autism, likes this book! It helped with preparing him for preschool. (which he started one day after turning 3) It is written like a social story. I did have to adjust the text a little while reading it..his class is all boys and they don't play outside. He really likes the page "What is a teacher" and "will Mommy and Daddy stay with me". It brought up things I did not think to tell him..like he would have a cubby of his own. He still likes to read this book after being in preschool for a couple weeks.

This book was a great help to my daughter when we were getting her ready for preschool the first time. She was almost 3 years old and had never been away from her mom or dad before. She is also rather shy. She loved the book and kept it with her all the time. We read it at night and any other time during the day she wanted to hear it. I have recommended this book to many people to help the transition. The transition to preschool went really well since she knew what to expect and she asks to go to school all the time.

The book is exactly what I was looking for. I explains everything about preschool and has great imagery to go with it.

It covers:
- What's preschool?
- What will my classroom look like?
- What's a teacher?
- Will my mommy or daddy stay with me at preschool?
- What will I do at preschool?
- What happens at circle time?
- WHy are there special rules at preschool?
- Who will I play with?
- What if I get hungry or have to go to the potty? What if I need a hug?
- When will I go home?
- A word to parents

My daughter is about to turn 3 and she absolutely loves it and doesn't get bored. If the descriptions are too long for your preschooler just explain everything in your own words.

My three year old loved this book. We read it to her a week prior to starting preschool and she really got a feel for what it would be like in a classroom setting. I appreciated how straightforward everything was and it really put my daughter to ease - unlike some books that address fears that your child may not have been aware of before hearing about them in a book. I recommend this book to everyone I know.

My granddaughter was having a difficult time with the idea of starting school. They are a military family and her Coast Guard dad is often deployed. This book helped to get her interested in the idea of preschool, and I think she is now looking forward to this milestone in her life. I ordered a few others similar to this. Each took it from a different angle, so I think they all contributed to easing the path.

Wordy book that was over the reach of my 4 year old. He will be starting preK this fall, and the book WAS helpful in showing him what school will be like. I don't regret buying it because I'd rather have too much resources for my child (words and pictures) than not enough.
