My granddaughter fell in love with Amelia Bedelia in Kindergarten and I believe she has read all of the books in print! This one, Amelia Bedelia Talks Turkey, is just as funny as the others. Little ones catch on to the "mistakes" Amelia Bedelia makes in her understanding of words used quite quickly and double over with laughter. If you have any little ones to read to or who read they'll certainly enjoy this book as well as her others.

My family finds Amelia Bedlia hilarious. I recommend these books to anyone. They are such a great conversation jumping off point. For example, you can discuss with your children what "all ears" means, or what "drawing the curtains" means. Because of these types of misunderstandings on Amelia Bedelia's part, there seems to be a lot of adult humor in them as well. In this one, it actually shows pictures of what Amelia Bedelia is thinking about. When a child says they will play a big role in the play, a little bubble pops up to show that Amelia Bedelia sees him as a bread roll.

This is not by the author or illustrator but a later version. It does not have the same feeling. It is somewhat conflicting in that Amelia Bedelia uses terms that have alternate meanings. The story does not follow the regular pattern of mixup, frustration and the laughter. The book is written over 20 years after the author passing.
