Dan Gutman understands young reader’s humor and has created a fantastic book formula to draw in even the most reluctant of readers. The My Weird School series is perfect for students to practice their reading skills with its repetitive yet hysterical narrative and story lines. But don’t mention that part to your kiddos, they might run away in fear they could learn something. A must have collection for any grade school library or classroom!

My sons and I have been reading this series. This has to be one of the best! My oldest read it by himself first and then asked me to read it out loud. I honestly had to stop reading at times because I was laughing so hard.

This was the first full length chapter book that my 7 year old has ever read. He loved it and laughed at nearly every page. He was so proud of himself for plowing through the 100 pages in under 2 weeks that he immediately started "Mr Louie is Screwy". There is some very mild potty humor in this one, but it doesn't bother me. I am just thrilled to see my son loving to read.

This book was published in a cool and awesome and funny way. And the part when Arlo Jervis has to write poems is really funny because of all the ununderstandable poems he writes.
AND THE BUT IT WON'T BE EASY PART IN RIDICULOUSLY FUNNY
Hope you like this book

This series written by Dan Gutman is about 2nd grade kids and their days at school. Each book focuses on the same friends and is about a different teacher. My grandson loves this series and have read all 21. He is 8 and laughs at something in each chapter. GREAT SERIES. I would recommend this series to everyone - main characters are boys and girls so great book for both genders. We read this book on the way to school and when I pick him up from school. I think I love the books as much as he does and I am a Grandmother!!!

This book is supposed to be humorous, but it's not. AJ, the narrator of the story, is a rude and arrogant 2nd grader. He does very little to get by and puts down the character who works hard and loves school. Of course, the "know-it-all" is a girl who can't be tolerated and is ignored by teachers while AJ gets praise for his poor writing and apathy towards school. This book teaches nothing of value to children. AJ slacks off, steals ideas from Andrea, and makes a joke of everything he is asked to do in school. He gets rewarded. Andrea works hard, is excited to learn, and goes above and beyond. She is ignored and made fun of. Frustrating to read this is being taught to children.

My children will not be given Dan Gutman books in the future. I'm shocked that people said they enjoyed and even laughed at this garbage. I get its supposed to be a "weird" school and this is supposed to be funny but being rude and making fun of other people shouldn't be a joke. There are much more clever ways to be funny.

Some may say that AJ is rude, etc. Okay, it's a book. When you read fantasy, do you expect reality? AJ and his gang's shenaningans are humorous and lighthearted. They do lend themselves to great discussions on the difference between proper behavior, silly behavior, and what crosses the line into unacceptable behavior. Give this book some credit. My son was in first grade when HE read this whole series on his own. My husband and I read each of them before he did. My son is now finishing second grade and has read ON HIS OWN, the whole of the Percy Jackson (and the Lightning Theif) series, and all of the "How to Train your Dragon" series. These are WAY above his grade level, but he gained the joys of reading, thanks, in part, the this series by Dan Gutman. In fact, although he has moved away from this level of reading, he still revisits this title with each new release. So, kudos to Dan Gutman in my book! "Ms. Coco Is Loco" was one of our favorites in this series.

It was a great and funny book I really recommend it
I would consider not putting the words dumbhead and moron in the books, it's a bad influence. All in all, I loved it!
