It is BLAW its not going to be fun or interesting no matter what. The reading is kind of scatter brained and isn't always easy to follow. Best way I learned to retain a chapter was go to the end look at the word glossary for the chapter and then go to the end of the book and read the definitions first then go back and skim through the chapter.

There seems to be a lot of negative feedback about this textbook, but perhaps it is not the book, but the instructor that is the problem. I am taking this course online and feel that my instructor has made it a great resource. I would recommend this textbook, but make sure all of your chapters are there, mine was missing chapter 18.

For a law class it should probably be good but for a Business degree course you get lost, especially in a fast pace degree class. If this was a full semester class it may actually work as you will have time to absorb it all. Short classes it is just over load

My friend Amanda Norden took a course in her Business Program that used this text, The Legal and Regulatory Environment of Business. She said it is a great textbook for people who are currently, or plan on, taking Legal Environment of Business in college. Here is what she says about this book:

This class is required for me to gain my Pre-Business degree, so I knew that it was important I took this class seriously and performed well in it. I bought the book hearing that if you did not have the textbook, you would not do well in the class. It ended up being a requirement for me to have this textbook for class. After ten weeks in this class, I’m so glad it was required. I know I would have not done well in this class without this textbook. It has helped me study for the tests in Business Law, and has helped me grasp concepts that I found difficult.

We use this textbook every day in my class. My professor lectures from the book, and it is great to be able to follow along with what the professor is lecturing. It is also helpful to have this book in case I was not able to attend a class. I could easily read the chapter that was being taught that day and be prepared for the next class.There are bolded definitions in the text, which make it easy to understand what the section is talking about. There are also helpful charts that describe what the current section is about. There are also examples that can help further your knowledge regarding certain concepts that might be considered more difficult than other concepts. This textbook also has a Glossary in the back of the textbook, which makes it easy to get definitions and understand the definitions.Read more ›

I had to use this book for my business law class this fall semester and at my school this business law class is considered an introductory class. From using this book I have decided that I do not like the book and I feel it lacks certain qualities that most textbooks have. But first I would like to point out that even though I do not like the book overall it does have good features. Some of the good qualities of this book are it gives in depth explanation about not only law but business too so if you are not taking a business class at the time you still get to learn about some from this textbook. This book also does a good job of explaining how the law ties to business and says it in a way is easy to understand which is good for a lower level class. One last good feature of this textbook is they give real world examples that are recent and most people know. Two examples are Enron and BP and how the law applies to what happened with their businesses.
The unfortunate part is the textbook to me has more dislikes than good. One thing this book assumes you have a basic understanding of law and at times they will reference terms without explanation and then keep going on with the chapter. I understand that most people know basic laws but business law is a little different and since this is used mostly in an intro class it would be nice if they gave more explanation. I often found myself having to look up the word they used or had to use context clues to figure out what they word meant and this was annoying to me because I had to do more studying of words it assumed I knew then actually studying of the material.Read more ›
