This text was required for a Finance course I was in recently. While the text itself isn't horrible per se, the online McGraw Hill Connect software was riddled with flaws and inconsistencies, ranging from inadequacies in the presentations, to bugs while doing the homework or trying to take tests, and incomplete or absent explanations of homework problems despite having a handy "link" to the appropriate section in the e-book. Horrible class, horrible software, horrible customer service resolution, horrible experience. The one lesson I did learn: this book/program was a horrible investment. Run away before you lose your time, money, and sanity.

My current finance class requires this textbook with the access card. The book is fine - I'm actually learning quite a lot from it, but the Connect Plus (online component) is terrible. It claims to by more reliable than blackboard, but today I have to take an exam, and the system shut me out before I could start the first question, and now it has recorded my grade as a zero. I tried to call tech support but there is no one there until tomorrow night - when the exam is due!

It is unacceptable for a online component of a class to be this detrimental to student's grades.

DO NOT RENT THE EBOOK FOR YOU COMPUTER!!!I rented this text as an ebook from Amazon for $85 and ended up having to purchase the textbook as well because it was so glitchy it was not usable for assignments or even reading. I downloaded the book onto my laptop instead of buying the text to save money but this was a HUGE mistake. The Kindle program would completely crash every 10 to 25 minutes and I could not go back and forth between Excel spread sheets to do homework or have both windows up side by side. I am very upset I can not get a refund for my rental even though it is defective and unusable. I hope nobody else, especially poor college students make the same mistake I did.

The book is very detailed but also very confusing and hard to navigate. For those new to the finance world or this type of math, the examples given are layed out in a confusing fashion.

The book does however, give examples not only in plain math but also for those who are financial calculator savvy.

If your school or professor has this as the text for your class, DROP THE CLASS and find another class.

The text book rambles along with multiple examples referenced at different points causing you to flip back and forth hundreds of times to determine what values they are plugging into formulas. The writers are apparently in LOVE with word problems to the point that they would put the formula 1+1=2, as one boat and one car are two vehicles with some extra obfuscation mixed in for good measure. Sometimes they forget to mention how they compute portions of formulas which leaves you doing the trial and error to figure out what they did. Trying to take an online course with this text is like learning to dance in an unmarked minefield.

While the book does give examples of solving 'some' problems with a financial calculator, apparently the bulk of the text was written in the era prior to Excel. The Excel examples that they do provide are normally not much more than a challenge question or a partial template. The homework assignments take around 18-20 hours, most of which is building the spreadsheets that you will need to complete the exams in the time limits. Apparently, the purpose of this text is to drill students in building Excel templates and decrypting the word problems in the book. I honestly couldn't tell you why I'm solving most of the equations, I just know that I have to get it done in a limited time frame.

The authors start the inside cover with a sales pitch for another product that they sell to help you to figure out this mess of a text book.
If I could give it negative stars, I would. I just wish I could get my money back for the course, the book, and the crummy Connect access that they make you buy.

This is a decent text, but it does not appear to have improved with age. The layout and formatting is very similar to another McGraw-Hill finance text: Ross, Westerfield and Jordan's (RWJ) Fundamentals book. I would go with RWJ over this book. It is a bit tired and just not as sharp as RWJ.

The book Is in good conditions because is new, but it was sent as the international version when the cover on the websites was shown as the Us version. It was priced at the Us version price, when the international version is a bit cheaper.
