Had this book for a Construction Management course. The book does a poor job at explaining concepts. The examples in the book are often very hard to follow. I would not recommend this book to anyone not already familiar with engineering concepts. The book was the required text for my course, which turned out to be pretty painful, mostly because the text was so hard to follow. Most students in the course had to rely on YouTube videos to explain the concepts presented in the text.

The Drawings aren't to scale, examples are confusing, the author skips steps and takes shortcuts , and then the steps he does take he doesn't explain "why" the steps are taken. In my opinion, much of statics should be taught in the same way that geometry proofs were taught. While it may be redundant going over the logic behind each step over and over again, it reinforces the methodical employment of concepts necessary to solve the problems. But my biggest gripe with this text book is the writing style. He seems to think that describing an equation or graph is explaining it.

Over all, this book did its job explaining different concepts of Structures. Was it all very clear and helpful? Not always. Then again, it is a tough subject. Like mentioned in the other review, some of the answers in the back were wrong so it made it even more confusing.
