Twenty Yawns
As her mom reads a bedtime story, Lucy drifts off. But later, she awakens in a dark, still room, and everything looks mysterious. How will she ever get back to sleep? Mr. Rex has the unique ability to entertain not only his target audience, children, but also the next couple of generations (up, of course). My entire family "gets a kick" out of his incredible drawings and use of color, as well as the story lines and choice of words and humorous, tounge in cheek prose. I have all of his books to date (and will continue to purchase each new one as he publishes them). Thanks, Adam.

I love any book that encourages my children to love reading, and this is one of those books. I purchased the book after my four-year-old twins came home from preschool raving about it. They had read it in class and were still talking about it hours later. It is nicely illustrated and the concept and some of the lines are funny. My kids think it's "awesome"!

Adam Rex's PSST! tells of a bunch of animals who've been cooped up too long at the zoo. So when a little boy with capable hands happens along, he finds each exhibit wishes him to bring them something special. It's a unique, hilarious story highly recommended for any collection.

Completely creative. This book works as a picture book for little kids, and ALSO (this is very important for families where the reading levels are a wide range) it works as a comic-book type story, and it is filled with puns and funny details. You have to see it to believe it - the illustrations are dynamite. I love:

+ the zoo animals cruising around in their little free-range hamster balls
+ elderly Batman
+ rats eat trash and goats eat trash but pandas eat bamboo
+ the voice bubbles coming out of people (and animals, and birds)
+ "All T-shirts Great and Small,"
+ the "hilly goats bluff"
+ the map on the endpapers
+ corncorncorncorncorncorn fuelfuelfuel.... (!)
+ the high quality illustrations - surprises everywhere you look

Savor every page! It is difficult to think of another picture book that works on so many levels and is FUNNY! And with humor that appeals to big kids and little kids and parents. Even the "humor-free" acknowledgment page is worth a read.

Big accomplishment - get this one.

The illustrations are beautiful. Rex's artwork is always in perfect harmony with the story he is telling. In this book, there's a lack of words, so you wouldn't be reading it to a young child and I would say it is more for a child who can already read on their own and can just sit back and appreciate the fun tale Rex weaves with illustration.

They storyline doesn't make a ton of sense but a child wouldn't care and the Illustrations are fantastically fun. The rich illustration on the last page is especially great to play an impromptu game of "I Spy."

If your kids "get it" and have a slightly different sense of humor (and intelligence) but crave just the right amount of silly - this is a great book. Adam Rex thinks and approaches literature a bit differently than others and has a very sarcastic sense of humor that our family adores. The illustrations alone are almost always worth a purchase and this book is no exception. If you are looking for a cutesy, feel good, easy read - this isn't it. If you're looking for something interesting and humorous, even if it may require a bit of effort to explain to your children at first, this is a fabulous book.

Excellent book! This is my 2 year old's favorite by far. The story is simple, but entertaining. And, the artwork alone is worth owning the book. It's been read so much that we ordered a second book to replace the first tape repaired copy we have.
