Clark has created a resource that belongs on the bookshelf of anyone who interacts with children whether in research or any situation where understanding, acknowledging and reaching a younger audience in an approachable manner and assisting them in opening up and expressing themselves is necessary. While her book focuses on qualitative research, her suggestions transcend applied research and would be helpful for anyone in a child-centered environment. For the apprentice and seasoned researcher, Clark shares approaches, tools, and subtle nuances that will differentiate child-centered qualitative from "doing kids' groups" or "researching teens". Even if for a quick glance and reinforcement, the book is enormously helpful. I first learned of Clark on a qualitative researcher board when a colleague asked for advice on phrasing questions for a project involving children. Her responses were incredible and incredibly well worded and suggested phrasing I hadn't considered but appreciated. Based on that discussion, I immediately pre-ordered her book immediately but never had a chance to read it. I finally got to look through it as I was preparing for a child-centered project. Excellent resource, I'm incorporating a few of her ideas into my arsenal. Highly recommend.
