Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Children Learning Second Languages is an excellent book. I purchased it to better inform my own teaching in the classroom and it has not disappointed. What I really like about this book are the numerous summaries and following short discussions of many academic articles and papers about SLA and Young Learners of English, but primarily in an ESL context. If you are looking for an exhaustive graduate level survey of SLA as it relates to YL's and VL's today then this is not the book you are looking for. However, this book is very insightful, very well written and easier to read than many SLA oriented books iin the TESOL market today. I also think this book could be very helpful to someone who is writing a school paper, or a researcher who is looking for a relevant article or study to quote to bolster their hypothesis.

I enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed other books that Dr. Pinter has written about Young Learners. Dr. Pinter also reportedly gave a very good presentation at the KOTESOL International Conference last October at Sookmyoung Women's University in Seoul, and she wrote a very nice follow up article for the KOTESOL member magazine. I highly recommend this author and her books to anyone who is teaching YLs or VYL's in an EFL or ESL context.
