From Library Journal
Among the issues facing China today, perhaps none fascinates and concerns both Americans and Chinese more than how political and human rights are handled in the People's Republic. This short collection of essays provides the basis for intelligent consideration of these questions. The three authors, Edwards, Louis Henkin, and Andrew J. Nathan, are all academic experts in constitutional law or Chinese politics. They provide, without becoming pedantic, an insightful comparison of Chinese and American conceptions of constitutional law and political thought. Henkin's essay deals with basic philosophical differences. Exceptionally useful; recommended for school, university, and public libraries. David D. Buck, History Dept., Univ. of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
