This is a good book, however all books on the internet are outdated even before they hit the presses.
If you know nothing about Internet Radio this book is a good start, however you'll have to turn to the search engines to find out what is happening now. A good book that ages fast. Think twice before spending your money. Surfing the web is free and up to date. Wyatt Kaldenberg

I am doing research to set up an international internet radio station, and I picked up this book hoping for some technical explanations of the technology and current options. At first, I didn't notice that this book was published at the end of 2001.

This book does contain lots of history, industry trends, and comparisons to broadcast markets.

This book was chock full of old technology. Back when this book was originally published, I'm sure the information was very helpful, and even now, it may contain helpful explanations, but because of it's age, it was difficult to tell what was current and useful vs. what is old and gone.

I haven't found the perfect book yet for what I want to know, but if I do, I plan to come back and update this review to let you know.

For now, pass on this book.

I was looking for information on equipment to facilitate creating a webcast. This book didn't have what I needed. I think the info was a bit dated. There have been tremendous strides in technology since the book came out.

Despite the recent copyright date on the digital edition, this material in this book really dates to 2001 or 2002. As such, many technical aspects are largely irrelevant (dialup and RealAudio are frequently brought up), and social media information doesn't cover the myriad of options that have sprung up in the interim. As such, a new edition of this book is badly needed for it to remain relevant. That being said, some information towards the end that discusses differences between "vertical" terrestrial radio and "horizontal" web radio is still relevant. Overall, I really can't recommend the book unless you're nostalgic for or otherwise interested in the early days of web radio.
