4.0 out of 5 stars Boice's best, August 18, 2005
By Raymond Cannata "Rev. R. Cannata" (New Orleans, LA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Gospel of John (Hardcover)
Boice was the model of scholarly pastor -- BA Harvard; MDiv. Princeton Seminary; PhD Basel Switzerland. He spent his entire ministry at one church (30 years at 10th Presbyterian), in the city he loved and grew it to thousands.

I have used his commentaries now in Ephesians, Acts, Genesis, and John, and in my opinion his work in John is his best. For one it is his most thorough -- about 5 times as long as the similarly sized book of Acts. It was also the subject of his graduate work. Lastly, his NT work tends to be less moralistic and more Christ-Centered than his OT work. This is esp. true of this John work.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most complete, yet easy to comprehend, commentary., September 1, 1998
By A Customer
Simple.

Explores EVERYTHING about each bit of text.

Explained in complete fashion, yet can be understood by even the most casual reader.

The only commentary I've read that wasn't WORK to read.
