About the Author

Marnix van Holsbeeck, M.D., is Director, Section of Musculoskeletal Radiology at the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and The Bone and Joint Center at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, both at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit,Michigan. In addition, he is the Director of the Section of Emergency Radiology in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the Henry Ford Hospital. Dr.van Holsbeeck is the authority in the field of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound inthe US, and his name is recognized internationally; note that Dr. van Holsbeeck started his medical career in Belgium. He is the pioneer in the field andhis name will sell this product. His name is recognized in the orthopedics and sports medicine community. Dr. van Holsbeeck will be co-authoring a Musculoskeletal MRI and Ultrasound Atlas and Teaching File volume with Dr. Donald Resnick for Mosby.

Joseph Introcaso, M.D., D.M.D., is the Director of Interventional Neuroradiology and Endovascular Neurosurgery at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. In addition to Dr. Introcaso's distinguished career in musculoskeletal and interventional radiology, he also has an extensive professional computer background.

Our authors are the founders of the Society of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. They coordinate and lead this conference yearly. Courses that the authors teach at meetingssuch as the RSNA are consistently hugely over booked.

The second edition (2001) of this work has become the reference book of choice in our practice for ultrasound imaging of the musculoskeletal system, such that a copy is available at each location where this modality is employed.

My only criticism is that at times one has to work to find the required information, as it is not always brought together systematically in one location but may be found scattered on different pages. We use as a companion book the second edition (2001) of "Clinical Sports Medicine" by Peter Brukner and Karim Khan, which is not an imaging book but provides much useful information in a well-written, systematic fashion.

I pondered for a while before allocating the star rating, as this is really an excellent book. I would prefer at this time to give four and a half stars to this second edition of "Musculoskeletal Ultrasound", reserving the additional half star for a later edition when I hope information will be arranged in more user-friendly and systematic fashion.

Those interested in musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging will not want to be without this book.

excellent book if you really want to learn msk ultrasound, it's not only practical but also academic, it's actually an approach (from u/s perspective) to msk pathology. to tell you more, i just finished my fellowship with dr van holsbeeck himself, so you go figure...

This is a good book that goes deep into musculoskeletal ultrasound. a bit heavy too read.
