In Melanie Milburne's latest book Never Underestimate a Caffarelli: Rafe Caffarelli has hired physical therapist Lily Archer to help his brother Raoul, who was hurt in a jet ski accident. He has pretty much become a recluse. The accident has left him in a wheelchair with a "mad at the world" attitude.

I thought Melanie did an amazing job with Raoul's character. He was so angry and frustrated and he took it out on everyone. She was so convincing in her writing skills with this character I wanted to reach through the pages of my book and smack him one. Readers be patient with this Hero, he is suffering so. Oh but he is still so very sexy.

My heart just went out for Lily's character. Lily might be feisty and strong now, but that was not always the case. Lily's back story was a very emotional read for me. I don't want to give too much away and ruin it for readers. She has suffered for years and what happens because of her past ...wow. I will say I have never read in any book yet the extent of what that Lily went through. Especially not in a Harlequin Presents book. So hats off for addressing this issue.

I loved both main characters in this book and thought Melanie did a great job of bringing these two tortured souls together. The romance aspect was very believable. And it showed two people helping each other with the past and with their current issues. There were a couple of really special moments near the end of this book. But I am afraid if I say more it will take away from the story.

I highly recommend this book to fans of Melanie Milburne's writing style. This is the second book in the series. The books are in the following order;

As my title suggests, I loved this book. Now I love sex scenes between the characters as much as the next person, but because of the "problem" Raoul had I had to wait, with bating breath, I might add for it to happen as I was sure it would. The waiting was tension filled for me because I knew it would happen, I just didn't know when or how. Raoul was a dream. He fought her in every way possible for her to not do her job, but they always found a way to make it work. Good story line and nicely written.

Just as Rafe was about to start his life with the indomitable Poppy Silverton, he learns that his brother - Raoul, the family risk-taker - has been gravely injured in a speedboat accident. The fact that their parents were killed in a similar way made the pain even greater. However, he wasn't prepared to see his brother, usually lauded as the friendliest and most carefree of the trio - wallowing and lashing out. Rafe knew Raoul wouldn't recover if he continued on this destructive path, so he decided to do something about it.

Lily Archer's employer probably didn't want to guilt her into taking such a difficult case. After helping a young woman in a high-profile case, working with a Caffarelli might just put them on the map in terms of cutting-edge healing techniques. Lily's reluctance was compounded by the fact that she stipulated she never wanted to work with male clients. But Lily was in a bad financial situation and being able to get the astounding amount delivered up-front made the decision for her.

Rafe had no right to spring this woman on Raoul the way he had. After unleashing a string of multi-lingual obscenities at his brother he was almost glad that the woman was close enough to hear. Even if the news that she was brought here without his knowledge was unwelcome. He had absolutely no faith in someone who would most likely use hocus-pocus and get him to send her away - with a nice bulging purse she didn't have to return.

Raoul wasn't prepared for the woman who had been summoned to help him. He didn't want her around him, but surprisingly, she seemed determined to stay and finish the job for which she'd been hired. Lily even managed to bite back despite her shrinking violet aura. Raoul was incredibly confused by his own reaction to the woman.Read more ›

I love strong alpha males, and equally strong women. This was a fabulous story line and with how the author wrote it was perfect. Things came out when they needed to, and emotions were spiked and yet passions delivered. Not only was Lily healing Raoul of a physical wound, but they were both healing each other’s internal needs.
