Perfect self reader. The story line is engaging, young children love it. The images are beautifully done with lots of color and detail. The font is big enough and the story is not too long. This book is very kid friendly, and it so great to see a child's confidence grow with each page she/he reads. I love this series of books. Highly recommended.

Sent this to my 6 year old granddaughter as a fun summer read and although she is unable to read it easily she loves enjoying it when other family members read it aloud. It has been fun reading aloud practice for her 9 year old brother as she follows along with laughs and giggles.

This series of stories is a lot of fun. Mother Witch cooks gross stuff and encourages her sweet daughter to misbehave. The rest of the family gets fed up with Little witch's cleanliness and niceness.

In this story little witch is determined to learn to read. Mother refuses to read to her and won't allow nice stories in the house. When she finds Snow White in Little Witch's room she reads the first page and the last page which says "happily ever after." Mother has a fit. She confronts Little witch who then reads the entire story and points out the part about the poison apple and the mean queen. Mother is so happy and excited that her daughter is reading books with evil in them that she wants her to read the family more stories. Little Witch is just happy that she learned to read and can read nice stories too.

So far we have read 4 Little Witch stories and all are good. Read them. My boy is 4 and a half and loves them.

I recommend this for begining reader, not necessary for the reading level (3 would be too much for beginning reader), but for parents to read it for them.

My son who is 5 yrs old just love this book! He tends to get discouraged about his reading, but this book is funny and story is very much related to what he is going through.

"Little Witch trys to read the book, but she could only read a few pages..." then she said "I cannot read the book, but it's better than nothing!". My son smiles when I read this part for him. After that he never whined when he can only read a few words in the book. :D

A great hit with my 8yr old daughter, she was having trouble reading and her fluency need to improve. This book and the other little witches book have really helped her and she loves reading them just wish there were more stories.

Tonight was the first opportunity we had to read this book to our 6.5 yr old grandchild (and his 19 mos old brother). After the first reading, our grandson excitedly asked us to read it again, and again, and again. Early in the story, the teacher in the book has some rhyming words hanging up in the classroom; my grandson could read those to me. After about the 5th time reading it, my grandson wanted to try to read it to me; he could read about 33% of it on his own. Some of the word blends were beyond his abilities; (Screamed, etc)with more time, we could have sounded them out. I did the voice of Mother Witch; he was able to add the sound effects for the giggle of the witch aunts. THe illustrations are wonderful. He laughed out loud during various portions of the fairly short story, it held his attention, there aren't any boring parts and there's just enough action to keep him interested (magic spells, kids getting over on the adults). I thought the story would be below his interest level - to our delight, I was wrong. Happy reading.

I bought this book to read to my daughter when she was about four. And just like the other Little Witch books, this story held her attention just fine. As my daughter learned to read more on her own she would read with me. She is now going on eight and still likes to take out her Little Witch books and read them to me. Good age group for these would be between the ages of 4 and probably 8. Nice set of stories.

My two almost five year old granddaughters love this book. It is silly, yet an eager pre-reader can identify with the little witch who really wants to learn to read.
I haven't been able to locate Little Witch Learns to Write. It must be out of print. I think my granddaughters would love that book, too.
