We love this whole series -- informative yet interesting to read over and over. This book, however, has one important flaw that I hope the author/publisher will correct. The US Mint does not (nor has it ever) made coins by melting the metal and pouring it into a mold as described (enumerated in step by step fashion in fact) in this book. Coin images are stamped onto blanks using a die press. I cannot knowingly give my child a book to read that contains incorrect information.

We have many books from this series, and we love them, so I was excited to read one about money. But, it was just okay. I have noticed that I like the books by Tish Rabe better than by this author. I was hoping that this book would talk more about our current currency, but it was more about the history of money across the world.

My 5 year old son LOVES the Cat in the Hat Learning Library books. He has learned a ton from them, and in traditional Dr. Seuss fashion, the cadence of the story is captivating.

The subject of this book could have been great, teaching kids about coin values, money, etc. Instead, it discusses the history of currency and trading... a great topic, but just not for this target age group. By the time he is ready to discuss the history of currencies, etc., he will probably not be connecting as much with the Cat in the Hat.

This was a fun book about why we use money, about different coins and money trivia. It explained bartering and different types of currency that have been used. It was easy for young children to understand and the pictures held their attention.

This Cat in the Hat's learning series is great. It goes into some depth on the subject of money (talking about the barter system) and includes fun trivia about some old kinds of money. I like the fact that it offers real information without talking down to kids. It assumes that they are smart and curious, and the books do not shy away from introducing adult words where appropriate. I would not hesitate to recommend this one, Oh Say Can You Seed, or even the books in the series I haven't bought yet.

You will not regret this purchase.

My 3 year old son loves to read. He loves books. He calls this his "cat" book. What more can I say, the book was like new and it still is in great shape. This is still part of our reading selection.

Delivered in less than a week regular mail..Liked the option to order used book at a lesser price. Easy to read by child. Liked the way the book compared how money started and came to be what we use today.

This book is an insult to Dr. Seuss. It's terrible. It's not fun at all, rhyming is awful and the facts are way, way too dense for young kids. It's very esoteric info about the history of money in ancient Greece and other places -- how money is made, who made it, why they made it, etc. There is about one page on modern money and no info on values or anything like that. Most of the info in this book was incredibly obscure, even many grown ups won't know about it.
