The book is perfect for use as an ME undergrad elective textbook. It provides a solid foundation for more advanced work.
It spends a great deal of time treating the vehicle as a rigid body. Eventually a linearized dynamic model is developed.
The book is a first semester text because it jumps from a rigid body model to the linearized dynamic model without a rigorous study of the non-linear aspect of the system, the suspension. It is not enough to state that a chassis/suspension system can be reduced to an equivalent roll stiffness. The exact science behind chassis roll is ignored.
All needed first semester dynamics info is provided. Alot of knowledge can be deduced from the material within.
If you are a student of engineering and need a solid first look at vehicle dynamics, get this book.

We are developing a vehicle based computer game and needed some insight in vehicle dynamics. A lot of the concepts in the book are very useful and there are tons of formulas that can be used. However, a lot of the scenarios are more based on live testing and how to use the results than from the computer game perspective. The chapters begin with stating a formula and thereafter proving it. It is a good thought but sometimes, the proof is not described enough from my point of view, which makes it neccessary to read some chapters many times before the concepts and formulas fall in place.

All in all, a very complete book from what I can judge. I can recommend it to game developers but there are likely other resources that pinpoint computer modelling better but this book provide a very complete over all picture where you need to decide for yourself how exact your modelling will be.

Be sure to fully understand rigid body dynamics before reading the book.

I read the reviews about this book containing typos. At first, I thought people were being picky...they weren't. If the author (and editor(s)) can't even catch simple typos, why should I trust that the author is providing the correct formulas??? He does offer proofs, however, he has incorrectly rewritten some formulas. Potential buyer beware!

This book doesn't contain ANY solutions to ANY of the problems in the chapter, not even to the odd numbered problems as in many other textbooks. If you want to check your answers, you'll have to have a professor with the solutions manual.

I'm a student from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia.
The author of this book is my current lecturer.

Apparently, the book itself is very difficult for UnderGraduate students to understand.

Good concept and theories

No clear step-by-step explanations of formulas, and when you do the exercise, the book itself does not guarantee good help to the exercises.

You have to do external research especially online resources.

This book is not even helping me doing my assignments

This is a very thorough book that covers a lot of topics in depth but as you keep going, you just find so many errors, it makes it hard to believe any calculation.
