This work contains a number of important plays and masques by Ben Jonson and his collaborators, including the best annotated edition of The Alchemist I've found. While it by no means contains all of his works (the man was prolific, but in many ways this title should be "Ben Jonson's Comedies and Masques"), it's a great start if you're looking to build a library of Renaissance plays and performances on a reasonable budget.

This is a great book. It is very academic. I find it to be a typical Norton Critical Edition. I mean that in a good way. It contains selected works, not all works.

My interest in Ben Jonson revolves around Shakespeare. They were contemporaries and fellow playwrights. I started simply attempting to build on my woeful knowledge of Shakespeare's works. Now I am attempting to compare and contrast Shakespeare with some of his contemporaries. I feel this is a great place to start with Ben Jonson. But it is not a "light read".

This book has several plays and works of Jonson, along with commentary and criticism. Honestly, some of these essays are beyond me. As a person who is attempting to self educate himself in the field of literature, I feel I sometimes need an instructor when it comes to some of this work. However I learn a little bit with every effort and maybe someday I will actually understand a great deal of this. That is still not the case at this time.
